Why YOU should support your local gourmet food truck…

The food truck revolution on the Gold Coast has become phenomenal, we never knew that when we started our designer markets just how involved with the street food trucks we would become. We have become friends with each and every single one of the gourmet foodies that join the Design Collective events and we go above and beyond to support and encourage them to succeed – each and everyday. But who are these foodies? Why should the general public support these guys. Well.. they are parents, dreamers, entrepreneurs, extremely talented chefs and they work their butts off to keep their businesses afloat. They create jobs for people on the Gold Coast, they are creating their own hours so that they can spend more time with their families and they are part of an incredibly supportive community that is taking the gourmet food culture on the Gold Coast by storm. So next time you see a food truck event, please consider supporting the mobile vendors! It means the absolute world to these guys! And think about the weeks on end when it rains every weekend (the main trade for these guys is weekend events) and they don’t have the convenience of a sheltered bricks and mortar store .

Because the food truck revolution has become SO enormous, the wait times at events can exceed any cafe or restaurant that you would go to, but there is a reason why the lines are enormous. AMAZING FOOD. A lot of the chefs behind the food trucks have years of experience, some are award winning  + they have travelled the world learning to create amazing dishes and by the time they have decided to build a food truck they have lovingly created a menu that they are truly proud of! When you support small business, over chain stores- you are supporting Gold Coast families in so many ways.

Get to know your favourite local food truck- you will love their inspirational stories on how they got started and you will appreciate all the hard work that goes into each dish.

And don’t forget the 3×3 marquee foodies, they are all saving their pennies to buy a food truck!!

The Gold Coasts NEWEST night FOOD MARKET – Have you seen the HUGE billboard?

* Eat Make Grow Markets *
The talented team at The Design Collective have announced a new open-air twilight food and produce market. The first Eat Make Grow Markets will be held on April 15 (Easter Saturday), and is set to become a regular seasonal event. The market site is located in The Sunland Group’s The Lakes Residences in Mermaid Waters (you know, the giant 42-hectare site where Bermuda Street meets Hooker Boulevard), which will become a significant urban landmark for the Gold Coast. Part of the masterplanned community will be a leisure/lifestyle retail village called The Lanes, featuring a market square, retail spaces and dining venues, which is due for completion in 2021. So, to pave the way for what’s to come in a few years time, The Lanes site will transform into regular foodie hub, with the Eat Make Grow markets to feature food stalls and trucks, a farmers market and makers market (so locals can buy fresh produce by night) plus live cooking demonstrations using local produce, crafts markets, artist displays, live music and family-friendly entertainment. We’re pretty excited for this one. We’ll keep you posted with the finer details for the first market on April 15.

The travelling what? The travelling eats yo! Do you want a food truck to rock up to your work?

Travelling Gourmet Eats was first created in 2016 when the most iconic food trucks of the east coast region (Australia) decided to look outside the box to create opportunities and possibilities to connect with the community in which they live. In Australia we aren’t always fortunate enough to be able to trade roadside, pull up in a community park or have walk by traffic. We rely on private land, corporate centres, workers factories, event coordinators, markets and festivals to create business for our food trucks.

Want a gourmet food truck to rock up to your workplace for lunch or dinner? Lets do it! Click here >>

This website was created to open up more opportunities for our vendors to trade at and for the loyal customers to get their favourite food truck fix. We connect with charity organisations, schools, office buildings, community groups and people who wish to have a gourmet mobile food vendor at their event, birthday party, wedding or work celebration.

Our foodies have been hand selected, are professional and well presented , creatively talented chefs and are extremely reliable. They only serve the finest quality food and the produce they seek is ethical, locally grown and fresh.

In addition to mid week gigs, lunches and community dinners our agency is fully equipped with a mobile bar, mobile stage, seating and decorations. With connections to talented musicians, family fun entertainers and creative craft vendors ‘Travelling Eats’ is your one stop shop to create a memorable experience. Join the food truck revolution and follow our small businesses on wheels.

The Scenic Rims most iconic event gets a new festival added to the line up!

The Design Collective duo is on the road again! June 25th at the picturesque Jubilee Park – Beaudesert will see a huge gourmet street food festival come to town- but with a difference! Each food vendor involved with the event must use produce from the Scenic Rim Region (Canungra, Beaudesert, Boonah, Kalbar etc) and name a special on their menus after one of the towns of the region! This is a chance for us to introduce our mobile vendors to a whole world of incredible food grown from one of the most beautiful regions in Queensland.

Scenic Rim Eat Local Week showcases the people who produce food and wine in the Scenic Rim. The region, with its fertile alluvial soil, produces a bountiful selection of fruit and vegetables, wines, milk and gourmet products such as olives, cheeses, jams and relishes. Agriculture and tourism contribute $402-million to the regional economy and Eat Local Week is a celebration of the people whose hard work makes that possible.
